Addiction and Recovery

The disease of addiction is rampant in modern America. As a result, recovery from addiction has become big business, and yet so few seem to be able to find a long-term solution. It took me over eleven years to find a way into lasting sobriety. More addicts end up incarcerated, institutionalized, homeless, or dead than those who find a way out of this tragic cycle. The fact that I have been sober for over three decades does not make me an expert on recovery from addiction. I am still leaning more daily. On this page, I intend to share some things I have learned along the way in the hope this might be helpful to others. I will also attempt to address some of the misconceptions about the twelve step recovery tradition, especially as it interfaces with historical Christianity.
